The Joe Gqabi District Municipality, together with Elundini, Senqu and Walter Sisulu Local Municipalities resolved through their Council Resolutions to establish he Joe Gqabi District Municipal Planning Tribunal (JGDMPT) as per the requirements stipulated in Chapter 6 of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act, 16 of 2013 (SPLUMA).
