Human Rights Day commemorations in Maletswai today begin with a solemn reburial and wreath-laying ceremony at Freedom Square in Dukathole Township, with celebrations at Maletswai Sauer Park Stadium, under the theme “The Bill of Rights at 30 – Making Human Dignity Real” set to follow.

The day remembers the 69 lives lost during the Sharpeville Massacre, alongside honouring the legacy of Joe Nzingo Gqabi, and pay tribute to the victims of the Maletswai Massacre of 1985.

May their sacrifice continue to inspire us to uphold human rights, justice and equality for all.
