The Intergrated Development Plan (IDP) unit in Joe Gqabi District Municipality recently hosted a Representative Forum in the Barkly East Council Chambers, bringing together a diverse range of sector departments. The attendees included representatives from JoeGeda, Department of Agriculture, Community Safety, South African Police Service (SAPS), Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT), Department of Health, Department of Home Affairs, Public Works, Department of Transport, and many others.

The forum focused on addressing community issues raised during outreaches held in local municipalities within the district. The IDP unit presented these issues, directing them to the relevant sector departments for solutions. The sector departments were tasked with finding ways to address the community’s concerns, ensuring that their needs were met.

In addition to addressing community concerns, the sector departments presented their plans, ongoing projects, and completed initiatives. They shared information about their roles and how they contribute to the well-being of the community, highlighting their value in supporting the municipality’s development goals.

By working together, the municipality and sector departments can leverage their expertise and resources to drive development and improve service delivery.
